Greenlit: Truly Madly Disco Kids, Channel 4

Truly Madly Disco Kids (1 x 60′) – A behind-the-scenes look at the dazzling and intensely competitive world of children’s freestyle disco. A booming phenomenon which was invented just 23 years ago, freestyle disco is the fastest and most furious form of competitive dancing, where the costumes are as vivid and flamboyant as possible and the moves push the dancers to their physical limits.

In the unlikeliest of places, from scout huts to nightclub venues, children as young as four are contorting their little bodies for moves the original disco divas could not have dreamt of. And they’re doing it for one aim – to be crowned the ‘Disco Kid’ at the illustrious Blackpool Tower ballroom.

The documentary follows five hopefuls and their families in the most competitive age brackets, the under tens, as they prepare for the biggest challenge of their lives – to knock the reigning disco kid off the top spot.

After months of endless training, the search for the perfect dance partner, and the financial sacrifices made all in the name of getting to the Top of the Tower, will the grand finale await any of the young boys and girls desperate to succeed?
