Inspired by the recent theft of five valuable paintings from Paris’s Museum of Modern Art, the folks at Flavorwire have carried out an investigation of their own: to track down the most greatest art heists of all time. Included on the list:
- The theft of the Mona Lisa from the Louvre, Paris in 1911;
- Two thefts of The Scream from The National Gallery and the Munch Museum; Oslo, Norway in 1994 and 2004;
- The disappearance of Goya’s The Duke of Wellington from The National Gallery, London in 1961.
