Native American Skateboarding Culture

Washington D.C.’s National Museum of the American Indian is showing Ramp It Up: Skateboard Culture in Native America until 1st November 2009. The exhibition shows how skateboarding culture combines “demanding physical exertion with design, graphic art, filmmaking, and music”. It’s one of the most popular sports on Indian reservations, with skateboard companies and skate teams springing up to serve the demand.
