Mystery of the Hope Diamond – a documentary about the Hope Diamond, a 45.52-carat blue diamond, which was a gift to the American people from legendary jeweller Harry Winston. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the diamond is being reset and the American people are being invited to vote their favourite design. Voting is open from August 19 – September 7 at the Smithsonian Museum’s website .
The House of Harry Winston has designed three possible settings – each symbolizing modern Hope in America. The winning setting will be revealed during a press conference in Washington, D.C. in mid-September, 2009. The Hope Diamond will be put on display in its new setting at the National Museum of Natural History.
