NY Times Homicide Map

The New York Times has compiled a grimly fascinating interactive map of homicides in NYC that reveals who and what of murders over the last six years. Zoom out to get  geographical overview or in to see the exact location. Where available the names, ages and of the perpetrators and victims along with weapon used are listed. The data can be filtered according to age, sex, time of day and ethnicity, and certain trends emerge: there are more murders in Brooklyn than The Bronx; women are rarely the victims, but when they are they are likely to know their killer; 10pm on a summer evening is the most dangerous time to be out on the streets.
