“There are estimated to be fewer than 50 prodigious savants worldwide. If we were brought together it would be disappointing in the send of us having different abilities. One thing that would makeme feel united with them would be the sense of us having grown up in isolation.” Daniel Tammet (Observer Magazine, 1 Feb 09). Reading this reminded me of a good One Life called Size Doesn’t Matter (BBC1) where Caroline Miller, a woman with restricted growth, travelled from Jersey to Boston to attend the Little People of America conference. Meeting people like her for the first time was both nerve-wracking and liberating.
I wonder what it would be like for all the prodigious savants to meet each other for the first time?
