Greenlit: Great Northern Cookbook, Channel 5

Great Northern Cookbook (4 x 60′) –  Sean Wilson, the actor best known to British TV viewers for playing Martin Platt in Coronation Street, worked in a Michelin-starred kitchen and has become a cheese maker of distinction collecting a Gold Medal at the World Cheese Awards in 2011. Great Northern Cookbook sees him explore the gastronomic heritage of towns in the north of England. In each episode, the culinary connoisseur visits different northern towns, experiencing the regional quirks that form the backdrop to the area’s industrial and gastronomic heritage, with a mission to take on four very distinct competitive challenges in each region. The challenges will see Sean follow centuries-old recipes without a modern gadget in sight, endure back-breaking jobs to source ingredients, replicate the best local dishes and finally attempt to outsell local rivals in the marketplace with his produce. Throughout Sean judged will be by the most critical of audiences – the local people.
