Lina Prestwood has been appointed as Commissioning Editor, Factual at Channel 4. She joins from Current TV where she is Director of Content and has had responsibility for single-handedly commissioning and delivering all UK prime-time series and singles across a variety of factual genres. She managed both the in-house origination teams and worked with over 100 UK and European producers from both start-ups to well-established production companies.
Prestwood brought about new ways for production companies to pitch – enabling them to put their ideas across via Twitter which generated 200 ideas in two weeks. She also pioneered reaching out to Current TV’s audience via digital platforms to involve them more in the commissioning process.
As well as overseeing commissioning, she has had a hands-on role, helping to generate, develop, exec and series produce much of the output including What Did I Do Last Night? (Realscreen MIPTV Format Pick), Male Hookers Uncovered and Babytrapped. Before joining Current TV in 2007, Prestwood worked with a number of key independent production companies on documentaries and features including Tiger Aspect Productions, Diverse and Mentorn.
