The Miami Herald notes that celebrities have flocked to earthquake-torn Haiti, as they did to New Orleans in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. But this seems to be part of a growing phenomenon that is based on a real desire to roll up their sleeves and help, rather than just show up and glad-hand a few local dignitaries and smile for the cameras before hightailing it back to their luxury penthouses. In New Orleans Brad Pitt oversaw the construction of 18 apartments and five houses; in Haiti, Shakiri and Ben Stiller helped to build schools. Move aside, Ty Pennington.
