Greenlit: Griersons 2010, Current TV UK

Griersons 2010 – Coverage of the most prestigious documentary awards ceremony hosted by writer, presenter and documentary maker, Sandi Toksvig.  Established in 1972, to commemorate the pioneering Scottish documentary filmmaker John Grierson (1898 – 1972), the Grierson Awards recognise and celebrate documentaries from Britain and abroad that have made a significant contribution to the genre and that demonstrate quality, integrity, creativity, originality and overall excellence.

During the evening, nine awards will be presented plus the Trustees Award. The nine categories are:

  • Shell International Best Documentary on a Contemporary Issue
  • Best Arts Documentary, History Today Best Historical Documentary
  • Best Science Documentary
  • Most Entertaining Documentary
  • Best Drama Documentary
  • Envy Best Documentary Series
  • Best Cinema Documentary
  • Jonathan Gili Award for Best Newcomer.

Productions nominated this year include Mo; Wounded; Mendelssohn, the Nazis and Me; Wonders of the Solar System; The Choir: Unsung Town; Ross Kemp: Middle East; and Banksy’s Exit Through the Gift Shop receiving two nominations in the Cinema and Entertaining categories.
