Le Vedure Del Mio Orto (The Vegetables From My Garden) is an Italian website where, like the massively popular Facebook game Farmville, you can grow your own crops. The difference is that you can actually eat the crops you grow, as the website will actually plant them on its farm near Turin, harvest and then deliver your ‘computer-grown’ veggies to your door within 24 hours.
To sign up for a plot sufficient to feed two people it costs 850 euros per annum, and then you can design your plot chose to plant up to 40 different kinds of vegetables, fruit and herbs. You can also get photographs of your crop’s progress and even erect a scarecrow on the land with your own face on it. Once the organic crops are ready, deliveries are made weekly.
