Las Vegas continues to evolve as a 67 acre site is being redeveloped by private investors – it’s the biggest private development in US history. According to Vegas Today and Tomorrow, there are more than 80 projects in development or under construction, many by famous ‘starchitects’ .
Of course, before any new buildings can go up in such a crowded spot as the Vegas strip, something has to come down. Here are some of the spectacular ‘implosions’ as buildings are brought down by controlled explosions. According to Vegas Today and Tomorrow, parts of Bally’s, Tropicana and Sahara hotels might also be coming down in the foreseeable future (implosions have averaged one per year over the last 15 years, although 2006 and 2007 were bumper years).
Will all this activity help Vegas ride and survive the recession?
