Sheena Matheiken , creative director for a NYC web design company, started The Uniform Project, in May 2009. She pledged to wear the one dress every day for one year, reinventing her look everyday with creative accessorizing. Every day she takes a photograph of that day’s outfit, (and they are so cute they deserve to be turned into a book, if that’s not already on the cards).
The project was inspired by her school days in India, where every child had to wear a uniform, which meant they were compelled to find ways to individualize their look with trainers, bangle and bindis. Sheena hopes to raise money for Akanksha Foundation, which is an Indian educational grassroots movement that funds uniforms and educational expenses for slum children.
