The New York Subway Project

Columbia University graduate Arun Wiita spent two-weeks riding the NYC subway to all 468 NYC stops to describe the station architecture and take photos of the surrounding areas. He recorded his photos and comments on an interactive map. What promises to be an interesting psycho-geographic mapping project turns, with the reading of his judgemental comments, into a study of one person’s prejudices and fears, and a portrait of a city where, in his mind, black neighbourhoods are all sketchy and white people are all gentrifiers. Draw your own conclusions here.
