Swimming Cities Crash Venice Biennale

NYC street artist Swoon is crashing the current Venice Biennale with her fleet of three boats that have been crafted from various bits of urban flotsam and jetsam. Manned by artists, the boats have sailed from Solvenia to Venice, where they will put on performances of music, shadow puppetry and story. Other, officially invited, artists exhibiting include the Chapman Brothers and Jeff Koons – there are 300 works by 50 artists.

Swoon’s Swimming Cities are inspired by urban landscapes and mangrove swamps and are sailed by 30 US artists who collaborated on the building of the fantastical rafts, which also contain cabinet of wonders collected from various points along their voyage.
