Reclaimed Art

Bates Wilson is a NYC-based artist who creates chairs, lamps and enormous sculptures from reclaimed metal. His work ranges from lights made from discarded drill parts to smooth, sinous fish designed to hang from the ceiling (although you’d need a pretty big space).   Now that economics (rather than the environment) has made recycling materials hip, there could be an American Chopper style series which follows the creation of a piece of furniture from trash to transformation into a piece of functional but attractive furniture. And Bates is certainly photogenic enough to carry it off…
