Museum Maker – Ralph Appelbaum

Ralph Appelbaum is a content aggregator of a different kind. He creates museums. And he’s helped design some of the best museums in the world:

  • American Museum of Natural History – NYC
  • US Holocaust Memorial Museum – Washington DC
  • US Capitol Visitor Center – Washington DC
  • Royal Academy of Music – London
  • Royal Albert Memorial Museum – London
  • Royal Museum – Scotland

He aims to invoke an emotional reaction in visitors, whether it be with an interactive display or a deliberately claustrophobic layout as at the Holocaust Museum. He works by finding a “big idea” that makes the whole museum hang together and make sense.   Read more about his work in the Washington Post
